Maroochydore

The centre of the Sunshine Coast...
Maroochydore is flanked to the north and south by miles of stunning beaches. Maroochydore's uniquely located between the Maroochy River and the ocean so visitors can enjoy both the surf beach and the calm waters of the river.
The Maroochydore beaches...
are backed by attractive parklands with plenty of shady areas for picnicking, walking or just chilling out. The main beach at Maroochydore is a popular surfing spot but there are other more sheltered beaches that are popular with families. Be aware though that, as with any beach in Australia, swimmers should always read the lifeguard warnings, stick to the patrolled areas and swim between the flags.
The river is perfect...
for watersports like sailing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and fishing, with keen anglers pulling out a variety of different fish year round. Cotton Tree is a popular park on the river bank with a great playground for the kids and paddling or swimming in the tidal river mouth. The walking paths follow the river past the Cotton Tree Caravan Park to the beach.
As well as having...
the warm climate, pristine beaches and stunning natural scenery of the other coastal holiday towns, Maroochydore is also a commercial centre, home to many shops and the biggest retail mall on the Sunshine Coast. The Sunshine Plaza has big stores like Coles, Target and Myer and hundreds of other shops selling everything from fashion to electronics.
With a free activity centre for the kids, a food court and a big screen cinema there's plenty to keep everyone happy here on a rainy day or when you need to stay out of the sun. Maroochydore has a small activity park called Top Shots with fun activities for the kids and mini golf and plenty of options for day trips.
